Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s most recent fashion exhibition, Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear, 1715–2015, explored the history of men’s fashionable dress from the eighteenth century to the present and re-examined the all-too-frequent equation of “fashion” with “femininity”.

Sharon S. Takeda, Senior Curator and Head of the Department of Costume and Textiles, LACMA, and co-curator of Reigning Men, will discuss the Museum’s recent menswear acquisitions, the concept and development of Reigning Men and the particular challenges of collecting and exhibiting menswear.
